For many patients, the first time they hear the word Rheumatologist is when their primary care doctor refers them to one. 

Many patients are not quite sure what the field of Rheumatology is.  Some patients who come for arthritis are not sure how Rheumatology differs from Orthopedics.  Some patients who do not have arthritis wonder why they are coming to see an "arthritis specialist."
